Bay Breeze
A Bay Breeze combines vodka, sweetened cranberry juice and pineapple juice over ice for a tart, tropical drink with lime and pineapple.
Built to the standard modern spec; not yet tested in our kitchen. How we test.
The recipe.
Scaling adjusts quantities only. Prepare shaken drinks in individual portions.
Let’s make a good drink.
Fill a Collins glass with ice and choose one part measure for all liquids.
Measure in the vodka, cranberry juice and pineapple juice at the stated ratio.
Stir gently so the bottom and top of the drink taste alike.
Add the pineapple and lime wedges and serve while cold.
A thoughtful finish
- Use sweetened cranberry juice cocktail for the stated balance, rather than unsweetened cranberry concentrate.
- Shake the pineapple juice container if its solids have settled.
- A part is a shared volume measure, not a separate unit for each ingredient.
Common mistakes
- Replacing cranberry juice with concentrate makes the drink much more tart.
- Using pineapple syrup instead of juice changes both texture and sweetness.
- Leaving the liquids in separate layers makes the first and last sips taste different.
A few good questions.
What is in a Bay Breeze?
Vodka, cranberry juice and pineapple juice form the main recipe.
How do I measure parts?
Choose one volume measure and use it consistently for every ingredient; this record preserves the source ratio.
Does Bay Breeze need a shaker?
No. Build and gently mix this version in its serving glass.
Can I make a smaller one?
Yes. Use a smaller part measure for every liquid without changing their proportions.
Variations
- No fruit garnish — serving adaptation — Omit the wedges while keeping the liquid formula intact.
- Smaller serving — serving adaptation — Use a smaller shared measure for all parts and choose a glass that fits the ice and liquid.
