At least four people have been credited: Carlos ‘Danny’ Herrera at Rancho La Gloria near Tijuana (c. 1938), Francisco ‘Pancho’ Morales in Ciudad Juárez (1942), Dallas socialite Margarita Sames in Acapulco (1948), and bartender Don Carlos Orozco in Ensenada. None has conclusive documentation, and the drink is also simply a Daisy — the Spanish word for which is margarita — made with tequila, which the Tequila Daisy of the 1930s already was. We do not pick a winner.
