The recipe.
Scaling adjusts quantities only. Prepare shaken drinks in individual portions.
Let’s make a good drink.
Blend the rum, cognac, juices and orgeat briefly without ice. If using xanthan, sprinkle it in gradually while blending slowly.
Add half of a 7-ounce scoop of crushed ice and blend again.
Pour into the chilled glass. Add an orange wheel and mint; use a food-grade edible flower if desired.
A thoughtful finish
- Measure every ingredient before adding ice so the drink can be finished promptly.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the finished drink standing while preparing the garnish.
A few good questions.
Which version is this?
The xanthan is optional; it is a powder measured by barspoon, not a liquid volume. The quantities follow the linked Difford’s Guide recipe.
