The recipe.
Scaling adjusts quantities only. Prepare shaken drinks in individual portions.
Let’s make a good drink.
Chill a rocks glass and prepare the garnish before mixing.
Fill the rocks glass with fresh ice.
Add one part coffee liqueur and two equal-sized parts blanco tequila, then mix gently.
Serve cold; choose the part size to fit the glass, without treating parts as fixed ounces.
A thoughtful finish
- Choose one measuring unit for both parts so the tequila stays twice the coffee liqueur.
- Measure the liqueur and base spirit separately to keep the published proportions consistent.
- Chill the serving glass as well as the mixture so the first sip stays cold.
Common mistakes
- Reading two parts as two ounces without setting a serving size changes a ratio into an invented pour.
- Free-pouring the sweet ingredient can cover the spirit’s flavor even when the serving looks correct.
- A warm serving glass quickly undoes the chilling achieved during mixing.
A few good questions.
What is in a Brave Bull?
Brave Bull is made with blanco tequila and coffee liqueur built over ice in a two-to-one ratio.
Can I scale a Brave Bull for more servings?
Use one chosen measure for each volume part and multiply those parts consistently. Any dash listed separately stays a dash for the selected serving; a ratio does not establish a fixed-ounce drink.
Can I switch liqueur brands?
You can try another bottle of the same liqueur style, but sweetness and alcohol content can vary. Treat the result as a bottle variation and keep the original version identified.
What glass should I use for a Brave Bull?
Use the assigned rocks glass for this directory serving. Where that differs from the source’s presentation, the version note labels the serving adaptation.
Variations
- Another bottle of the base — Editorial bottle variation: use another producer of the same coffee liqueur style at the listed measure; record the bottle rather than assuming identical sweetness or strength.
- Over a large ice cube — Editorial serving variation: serve the same measured mixture over a large fresh cube in a rocks glass; continued ice melt will change its dilution over time.
